SPS Linux live ISOs (Splux, 2026-09-01-5)
SPS Linux live images for 2026-09-01-5. Use these instead of -4. -4 died in setup while installing Python: `make install` tried to copy `_sqlite3.cpython-314-*.so` after CPython imported that module against the live disc's older libsqlite3 and renamed it `_sqlite3_failed`. mkpkg now puts SPS_ROOT on LD_LIBRARY_PATH for just-built test programs; host gcc and python3 wrappers keep the previous path. sqlite, python, libffi, expat, readline, and ncurses install into lib64. `--install-bootloader` on EFI writes `\\EFI\\BOOT\\BOOTX64.EFI` without needing NVRAM. If efibootmgr is on PATH, a second grub-install creates the SPS Boot#### entry. The live image seeds efibootmgr from the host. Assets: - sps-live-tty.iso - console live image with recipes and a compiler - sps-live-tty-slim.iso - small console image; setup needs the network - sps-live-plasma.iso - Plasma/Wayland live session (Konsole -> setu
Install sqlite and python's other libraries into lib64.
Load target libraries when just-built modules are imported.

SPS Linux live ISOs (Splux, 2026-09-01-4)
SPS Linux live images for 2026-09-01-4. Use these instead of -3. -3 died in setup while installing OpenSSL: `make install` ran pod2man, which the live disc did not have. openssl 4.0.2-2 now uses `no-docs` and `install_sw`, and puts libraries in lib64. pod2man is seeded on the disc anyway. This set also makes setup and SPS treat more than systemd and OpenRC as PID 1, and writes compiler flags before the first sget: - sps.conf: makejobs auto, rest-of-line cflags/cxxflags, march native - setup writes /etc/sps/sps.conf before package builds - --init systemd|openrc|s6|runit|dinit|shepherd - stock service scripts under lib/setup/sv; pkin enables them for the init recorded in /etc/sps/init - extra: init-s6, init-runit, init-dinit, init-shepherd plus Guile for Shepherd Assets: - sps-live-tty.iso - console live image with recipes and a compiler - sps-live-tty-slim.iso - small console image; s
Enable s6, runit, dinit, and Shepherd, and honor compiler flags.
openssl: skip docs and install shared libraries into lib64.
Add s6, runit, dinit, and Shepherd as first-class inits.
Update README to indicate SPS is under testing

SPS Linux live ISOs (Splux, 2026-09-01-3)
SPS Linux live images for 2026-09-01-3. Use these instead of -2. -2 failed setup when building libxml2. Host meson is a setuptools wrapper; the disc copied python3 and the stdlib but not mesonbuild, so meson died with a Python traceback. Separately, libxml2 2.15 treats -Dpython as a feature option. -Dpython=false is invalid and meson aborts on "python". This set: - live Meson is meson.py next to mesonbuild, not the host setuptools stub - Python stdlib is copied without host site-packages (PyQt and friends) - CMake modules and the Perl library are on the disc - setup probes meson --version before the first package build - host samplerate.h and libxml2 headers are dropped from seeded includes - libxml2 uses -Dpython=disabled; zlib/xz/pkgconf install into /usr/lib64 - meson itself installs without pip Assets: - sps-live-tty.iso - console live image with recipes and a compiler - sps-live-tty
libxml2: treat python as a meson feature and install libs in lib64.
mkiso: seed a working Meson instead of a setuptools stub.

SPS Linux live ISOs (Splux, 2026-09-01-2)
SPS Linux live images for 2026-09-01-2. Use these instead of -1. -1 still failed setup at alsa-utils (alsaloop linked -lsamplerate from a seeded host header) and `sget install` died on filesystem because live /bin was a real directory. Plasma had no System Settings categories, no Firefox runtime, and never started pipewire or polkit. This set: - live root is usr-merged; filesystem is installed into the live SPS database - pkin adopts identical unowned symlinks and files - alsa-utils ignores host samplerate.h; alsa-lib does not ship .la files - Plasma copies System Settings, Firefox, GTK schemas, and starts pipewire, polkit, and the session portals Assets: - sps-live-tty.iso - console live image with recipes and a compiler - sps-live-tty-slim.iso - small console image; setup needs the network - sps-live-plasma.iso - Plasma/Wayland live session (Konsole -> setup) Checksums are in SHA256S
